"utorrent is smart enough to realize a given torrent is already loaded, so it doesn't cause duplication issues, therefore not necessary." i don't have that faith. well... you have to either have faith that utorrent works as it claims to and spend hrs configureing a filter.... or do it the way i suggest, which has been working for me,season after season. i have had no dupes that i can recall in 3 years. tvrss has had only a few day down time once. switching feed to the alternate eztv or bt-chat one's is as easy as selecting alternate in the drop-down listview. "think it is because he does not use episode number and smart episode filter in order to catch the propers and repacks. if he'd use more than one feed in this case he'd get duplicates or?" the only reason you would get dupes with my method, is if you have multiple feeds and the feeds use different torrent and/or file naming conventions. aydin is right. "the decision to not use "smart ep. filter" is, again, a personal decision rather than absolute. it means that you will catch propers and repacks, but the downside is that you will get *every* release that passes by that matches the name filter, unless you stack up every sort of unwanted format in the not rules for *every* show." as stated earlier..getting dupes only happens if one disregards the rest of the guidelines. there are too many non-hostile nitpickings to respond to.. ![]() but remember this: special cases (ie law and/& order:blah blah) are exactly that; special cases. writing all filters as if it were a special case is overkill. save those special options for the special cases ![]() |

believe it or not i wasn't being intending to be overtly hostile ![]() i'm completely open to equally ... robust ... criticism of my methodology too, if it's useful to other people. if you have a specific reason for doing something a particular way i'd simply like to know the thinking behind it. if it's better (for most instances/people) than something i personally prefer to do, than all to the good. let's arrive at some sort of consensus and merge the ideas into a single, coherent, format for the doc. |

i seem to be having problems picking up the bt-chat rss feeds, and the eztv fnet ones aren't working since the home page got disbanded and refers back to google. any advice on what the feeds should be now? |

hi again... yes, utorrent is getting the feeds from the tvrs link, but the list from there isn't comprehensive, or as swift as the eztv feeds were.... i say were because i am not getting any updates from iether the eztv or bt-chat feeds now. does anyone know if there is a new eztv rss feed now that the eztvefnet domain seems to have been knocked out...... actually, scratch that entire post.... my utorrent seems to be having problems doing a connection for feeds because i am downloading some huge files (all of the west wing).... i just found that if i stop all the dloads and re-ping for feeds i do in fact get the bt-chat feeds.... but i don't get any eztv feeds... so that part of the question still holds... any ideas? |

1) the feed run from this site (under the eztvefnet.org or eztv.it domains) has been disabled since the start of the fall season, to try and ease the load on the server. there have been many news posts and stickies and comments about this. if you look at the feed url (http://www.eztv.it/rss.xml) ![]() says "eztv rss offline" 2) the feed from tvrss is exactly as comprehensive as the one that ran here because it's from the same data source. if there's differences in swiftness it'll be measured in *seconds*. 3) set your bandwidth limits sensibly so that you don't completely swamp your connection - if you have trouble retrieving mail or reading webpages then you are going to have trouble updating feeds too. |

@kurai. thanks very much - information recieved and understood... i've ramped back my expectations on the utorrent downloads i was running and am now following the recomended speed limit for a 128kbit upload. pc definitely happier and updating the feeds nice and clean... i guess i just need to make sure that all my auto feeds are pushed to the front of the queue. i still can't believe how cool the rss auto feed download feature is... i used to waste loads of time checking to see if my newest shows were out! |

bt-chat really works for you with the url given in the tutorial? there's even two different ones! none of them works for me -- i get all kinds of errors every time. this one works better for me: http://rss.bt-chat.com/?group=3&cat=9 ![]() edit: why the **** are urls automatically removed? ![]() |

make one to suit your own needs :- h--p://www.bt-chat.com/rsstag.php ![]() urls are blocked for non-admins because people insisted on posting links to rapidshare etc. downloads despite many many repeated requests and warnings from admins. |
