no idea why they re-made this either. watched the first episode and it was strange-literally follows the broadchurch
storyline exactly.
apparently they have changed the murderer though, so that's something i guess :/
what i hear is blah blah blah whine complain blah blah.
this remake has received high ratings from us viewers and critis, thus far.
no, it's not whine, complain from me. it's literally why? a legitimate question. i really don't
understand why you would bother remaking a show if you are going to re-do the storyline exactly for
the first few episodes.
it's not like the killing where it involves a whole different language, so why the expenses and hassle?
i don't work in the industry so i don't know the answer. and where was i complaining?
i wasn't necessarily referring to you specifically.
but since you claim to be genuinely curious as to the why..
the answer is the same for why hollywood does anything it does...money!
this remake has received high ratings from us viewers
the premiere had terrible ratings - "the series premiere of gracepoint garnered a 1.2 adults 18-49
rating", 4.76 (total viewers in millions) these are cancellation worthy numbers and it's only the
1st episode !!!
imdb has a rating of 7.5 which is really good considering it doesn't have a lot of reviews yet ๐
as for written reviews by general public (imdb, metacritic, and entertainment blogs) have been
very favorable (aside from those who have previously watched broadchurch - which would be
extremely small number of people in the us, or those that have a high propensity for pissing and
moaning in almost all of their written reviews of just about every show in existence)
it is far too early to determine the show's viability based on total number of viewers. dvr and on
demand numbers have not yet been calculated, which will raise the numbers...albeit probably very
little.. additionally there are a shit ton of shows that received low-ish numbers after their first
episode that went on to become popular and air for many years.
why do it???
answer -- cause the us writers can't think of anything so there coping all the good uk shows. i could
name at lease 10 and most of the us ones are really bad copies.
us writers plz do some good space sci-if stuff instead pls
mit
i hope this is not a debate about if the uk or us series are better for whatever reasons, because
that would not be a good thing... ๐ i don't know the series broadchurch at all but gracepoint is
pretty good... ๐
i have watched broadchuch and thought it was fantastic - the cast, the writing etc...
having watched the 1st episode of gracepoint i'm not impressed:
1.david tennant with ridiculous fake american accent ..lol
2. anna gunn is not as good or captivating as olivia coleman was in broadchurch.same goes for most
of the cast introduced in the 1st episode.
3. nick nolte and tennat seem like the only decent casts on gracepoint while in broadchuch the main
cast as well as the minor roles were portrayed by some fantastic actors/actresses .

well watch and see if it improves.
have to completely agree here.
i can't actually think of an american re-make which was ever better or as good as the original. i'm sure there's something
somewhere which escapes my mind, can anyone help me out?

try house of cards - the us approach differs quite a bit from the original uk show but goddamnit:
kevin spacey delivers.
and i still haven't figured out who is the more evil character: frank underwood or the wifey ... :d
