wow, that's fast. the link you suggested (i missed it) did the trick though. edit: for anyone else using the link, close utorrent when executing it, cause my hdd went mad after that; until i closed utorrent. [/edit] few suggestions (no idea how easy to implement, but hey...): 1. is it possible for the program to remember the way i slided the columns in the latest torrents screen (as well as the window size). now the time on site doesn't fit so i have to manually slide it, so i can see it. of course this is not a huge issue - if any issue at all - but it would be easier to not have to do that every time you open the program. 2. maybe on install a shortcut to the desktop would be useful 3. in the setting-shows tab a different number for my favorite shows is shown than on the main page 4. when clicking on show information, the selected show is not highlighted after you close the information window 5. after clicking refresh, i only see the shows i selected in the settings- shows tab, but how can i change the view back to all latest torrents? rightclicking on a show allows me to add it to my favorites, but i already see only my favorites. 6. follow-up on #5: when all (latest) torrents are shown in the main window in stead of just the favorites, maybe it's possible to use a green font for the favorite shows for easy viewing, just like they are now grey if 'watched'. i'm not trying to trash your program; i think it's great, besides, it's only in alphastate. btw, aren't you worried you'll loose all the traffic to your site/forum when people start using this, or is that the idea, hehe ![]() |

thanks for your thoughts, i'll try to do as much as possible for the next revision. as for the traffic, i'm not actually part of the eztv staff, and i spoke with a few of the admins on irc before making this available to make sure it would be ok. some technical info about traffic related to the eztv application: when you launch the application, it builds a library of the information in the memory, ie. latest show information, tv news etc. (this is re-built when you refresh), and the only way to get that information was to parse the html on the site. so i guess traffic wouldn't change dramatically by the use of the application, as the application still has to "visit" the site as often as a user would. again, thanks for you interest and suggestions. |

a couple more questions/issues: 1. am i supposed to be able to click on a news item to have it open in a browser? if so, it doesn't work, if not, wouldn't that be better. now i can only read half the story. 2. the photos with every show and newsitem need to be smaller. now you can hardly see what's what. you probably noticed this yourself too and this probably isn't high on your priority list. i know it wouldn't be on mine. 3. this problem i can't recreate, so maybe it isn't a problem at all, but maybe someone recognizes it and can reproduce it: i clicked once on show information without a show selected which gave me an error and the program closed. i wish i saved the errormessage, but alas. i also seem to be unable to get the button 'show information' to appear without actually having no show selected. you are also working on an auto-download feature. wouldn't you need the help from the torrentclients for that? i mean, i get a window in utorrent when i download a torrent asking which files of the torrent to download (even if it is just one), which would defeat the purpose of an 'auto' download, wouldn't it? keep up the great, super work though. |

yeah. there's options in utorrent to turn off that dialog so that torrents just start running, until i can work a way around it, i was going to suggest that users turn off those options and setup the torrent manually (double clicking) once added. i would assume most people have that opening dialog turned off by default. |

thanks very much for implementing some of the stuff i mentioned, and also sorry to bother you with issues that were already implemented in v1.0.0.0 (like not showing all the shows in the main window; i overlooked the option in settings to show just selected shows or all shows). on installing v1.0.0.2 the app crashed, and later again. i manually deleted the install folder and booted and tried again and it worked flawlessly, so i don't know what caused the crash, but as i mentioned before, i use vista 64bit, so maybe that's it. i wanna adress a few issues that i found in v1.0.0.2. maybe you're already aware of them (probably) but just in case...: 1. in the section tv news, the scrollwheel doesn't work, which does work in the main window. also in tv news, i see the same news items repeated three times (starting with regenenis and ending with aprrentice). 2. the pictures in 'show information' when selecting a torrent and clicking show information are not resized as they now are in the news section. hmmm. while typing this i closed the program and tried to start it again (first time doing it since installing), but it won't (error clr20r3). maybe the same error as mentioned above. will investigate and get back on that. anyway, thanks again for the fast response on some issues. edit: i uninstalled an re-installed it again, which went well without rebooting and i could again start the program. alas, after closing i couldn't open it again. maybe the program changes some setting (maybe in register?) which vista can't handle correctly. if you're interested in a screenshot of the error-message (even though it's a vista-message and it's in dutch), let me know. |

thanks for the bugs. it seems the issue with the multiple news articles is that when refreshing, the whole batch of articles from the main page are re-added to the end of the list, instead of clearing and then re-adding. i think the problem you're having when closing is something to do with vista, maybe a security error. try running the application in admin mode, as when the application closes, settings are saved based on the position of the application. i know vista has all sorts of issues relating to writing to files in different security areas than that which the program is in. thanks again. |

well, you're right. i didn't try that and it works. i never thought of that because i my login already has admin rights, but i guess it's not exactly the same as logging in as admin. another suggestion, while i'm here: 1. how about giving the selected, favorite shows a different color in the main screen (with the latest torrents). so that you have grey for watched, blue for unwatched and green for unwatched, favorite shows? or whatever color the user might select in settings (nice feature, although i already like the blue theme). 2. also, i would like to use your eztvsite ctu-scheme in the program as well, but maybe this is something for later... if at all... ![]() 3. in the settings->shows tab when shows have an apostrophe, the name isn't listed proporly (america's deadliest prison gang for instance), but maybe that has more to do with this site than your program. well, thanks again for your swift reply and help, as i hope my input is also helpful. |

first off, after using it a couple of days now, it really works well. all issues are mostly superficial and not interfering with the working of the program. of course, i am still aching for the auto-download, but maybe that's not so easy. i'm no programmer. well, not since my sinclair zx spectrum ![]() so, thanks again. and again, a few suggestions: 1. you probably noticed this yourself, but in the settings tab, the preview pane of the selected colors isn't that nice. the way it looks now, i think it's better left out. 2. this point is something for after the auto-download feature is implemented. consider the following. someone has selected 20 shows and has the auto-download enabled. he now gets his favorite 20 shows in his download folder without having to check a site or the program. this someone probably won't check them. now, a new show comes along on eztvefnet, say, stargate:pegasus. this someone, might want to watch this, but doesn't know about it, since he doesn't have to check the site anymore. i am aware that this person simply could check the site, or the main window in eztv desktop, but he may forget, overlook a new show or whatever. so how about a tab with new shows, based on, for example, the time he last selected a new favorite show. that way, he can easily identify which shows he needs to add to his favorites. on the bottom of this page could be a button resetting the clock on which the program bases which shows are new or not. as the situation is now, anyone using either the site or eztv desktop or both, might miss out on st:p or any other new show. sorry for the lengthy rambling, but i would like to see this in some future realease (beta?) since it's an easier way to make certain that you don't miss out on anything. ok, going back to work now. |

one more thing: when a show has an 'addshow' button on the main page of this site, it isn't listed on the recent torrent tab in the program. even when such a show is listed on http://www.eztvefnet.org/index.php? ![]() main=showlist and has info about it. when this is the case, the show is also listed in your program in the settings-shows tab in your program, but as i said before, not on the main tab in eztv desktop. see, for example, dogface, the pickup artist and the 2007 montreal...gala. |

another suggestion/question regarding the auto-download feature: with prison break starting again (yes!!), it made me wonder if you'd given any thought about the various formats that are out there (hdtv, hr-hdtv, 720p). if you implement an auto-download feature, people wouldn't want all three presumably. so i guess there needs to be a filter for that in some form or another (maybe the showlist can have three listings for such a show (like pb), but i guess that list comes straight from this site, which means that won't work). well, just thinking out loud to add things to your to-do-list, hehe. cheers. |
