my god... its eztv, desert camoflage edition.

design is a bit better but the colour scheme litterally hurts after a little
while. perhaps you could try other earth tones?

i'm in opera 9.22 and the tab nav bar is fine just left justified with room for
more features! ;p

seriously, its bright but not as bad as the new design for operawatch. its
like the evil spawn of the sun, googles homepage, and a blog.

4.2/5* needs tweeking.

eyes are bleeding, way to hard on the eyes. definitely not a fan of the new
color scheme. colors dont really work for me. i think the old scheme was way
better. ill take blue's any day over these creams.

i understand that your not going to be able to make everyone happy with the
colors you choose. however is it possible to maybe make an option in our
profiles to select the theme and possibly let us switch back to the old theme
via a setting in our accounts?

thanks

although blue is one of my favorite colors and i'm not thrilled with earth
tones, i definitely like the new look more than the old one. the new look gives
the impression of being crisp, clean and professional. it's also easy to read.

i like the way you used gradients, it gives a more polished professional look
than not having them. i think my favorite part of the new style is the grey
gradient areas. i also like the new logo better than the old one.

for the people who think there's too much white, you could use a page background
color like cream or almond to reduce the glare from the white. that would still
keep it crisp and light. or you could just do a silver theme to go with the
current grey gradient areas.

personally, i like a lot of white. it can cause usability problems for some
people, though. i have west facing windows next to my computer. in the afternoon
when the sun shone in there was so much glare from some white pages it was hard
to see them. i tried a glare screen on the monitor, but i didn't like it.

i got some energy efficient solar curtains and it solved the problem. the
curtains are quite inexpensive. they're like space age blankets--a thin
reflective plastic material. it reflects away the heat and cuts down on cooling
bills in the summer. they still let through some light, but not as much, so it
took care of high electric bills and glare on the computer screen at the same
time. i can reverse them in the winter to keep the heat in. my computer room was
the hottest room in the summer and the coldest room in the winter, so these work
well for me. if other people have problems with glare, i suggest solar curtains,
heavy/dark sheers or off-white roller blinds underneath your normal curtains to
take care of it.

i've played with the design and tried to spruce it up a little,
adressing most
of the points made here. i think it looks alot better than it did a few hours
ago, there's just a few little things that are difficult to change without
individual class names.

looks a lot better, good work, thank you!

just a thought, could the tabs-links in the nav-bar be centred?

digger gives ctu_bauer a terrorist to play with for all his hard work;)

CTU_Bauer Posted at 26/07/2007, 21:06
few more changes made. centered main navigation 'tabs', and made the majority of
the page a little darker without losing it's scheme. i was also able to remove
the tabbed theme from the second row of links in the tv news section, so it
looks alot neater there now.

personally, i like the soft pastel shades of blue from the old site....it
quietened the voices in my head...heheheee...as long as everything works, i
really don't mind if it looks like a hospital or insane asylum

all kidding aside...it is so obvious that you guys continually try to improve
things here, so we should all just be pretty thankful and shut our
traps...i'll start...lol
wileyasa Posted at 26/07/2007, 21:57
the navigation \'tabs\' look much better now, and i like the subdued colours on
\'my page\'
looking good:)

if you must keep the new color scheme, which isn\'t all that bad really, just get
rid of the white and bright parts, those really do hurt the eyes. go for
something darker bordering the tan and cream, like darker shades of grey.

this color is a good background to offset the tan and cream:

exelent, much better than before, keep the good work!!
JoakimCh Posted at 27/07/2007, 02:05
i think they should switch back to the old style, this doesn't really look any
good and the difference between ie and ff is too big. but it's ok having it as a
style you can choose maybe; let the user have a choice.
Orkie Posted at 27/07/2007, 02:42
hi ctu_bauer!

great work already here's some more stuff you could consider changing:

1. the colour of the postnumber, it's almost non-seeable the way it is now.
2. the main nav tabs, when you rollover, they first get a stripethrough and
after that it turns to gray, what's up with that, just let it change to gray.
3. the line between welcome, [username] and the topic title is red?! should
change that so the entire bar is one thing, so just remove the red line and
change the background of the welcome, [username] part to match the topic title
part.
4. that little dot between the tabs and the topic title should not be there or
atleast be white.

btw, you should see this as just idea's

again, great work m8.
aussiemadmum Posted at 27/07/2007, 06:48
yeah....not so sure. must admit, i prefer the old one, but a change is as good
as a holiday. maybe will need some time getting used to it.

i'm running 1024 x 768, and everything looks to scale. tabs are fine.

just not sure of the colouring. the suggestions by orkie could make a
difference.
one extra suggestion is to change the colour of the username on the posts to
stand out a bit more.

great job anyway, guys.
Patrick Posted at 27/07/2007, 07:54
i love the new look!
aussiemadmum Posted at 27/07/2007, 09:03
ok, i've been poking around for a while, and have gotten used to the colour.
at first, it was very damaging to the eyes, but it gets better.

the only thing is the logo. i think it looks a bit bland. did you try putting
the old logo in? how would that fit? maybe would add just a touch of colour
to the page?

overall, you guys have put in alot of hard work, and it looks good.
well done.
